As reported, the U.S. Capitol’s Emancipation Hall in Washington, D.C honored Frederick Douglass with a statue. It’s actually the other way around. Frederick Douglass is prominent among what I refer to as America’s second wave of founders, which also includes Abraham Lincoln and Susan B. Anthony.
I spoke to Frederick Douglass’s great-great-great grandson (who’s also Booker T. Washington’s great-great grandson) Kenneth B. Morris, Jr., Civil Rights and comedy icon Dick Gregory, and Frederick Douglass Republican K.
